The Clinical Laboratory in Coordination with the Department of Pathology continuously pursue quality and safe healthcare services to all by acquiring equipment that will aid in a faster diagnosis of diseases. One major recent advancement of the department is the automated Immunohistochemical staining for antibody receptors. These are as follows:
Neuron Specific Enolase (NSE)
Epithelial Membtane Antigen (EMA)
Smooth Muscle Actin (SMA)
Moreover, the Microbiology Section offers Gene-Xpert tests in diagnosing the following diseases:
Tuberculosis (TB) -MTB-RIF with sputum sample,
Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea (CT-NG) with urine sample and
Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) BCR-ABL chromosome.
This greatly reduces the time to diagnose such diseases from 6 weeks to as early as 1 day.
